How we met

We met in November 2009 in church - Winners Chapel Nairobi. He was already a member of the youth choir and I had just recently joined. I can’t remember the first time I saw him. My first vivid memory was being asked to play Mary while he played Joseph for a Christmas play the youth choir was staging. Seems the future that was destined to be between us was already evident to people, even though we were barely talking then!

Fast forward to January 14th - his birthday. I heard people talking about it and I thought it would be nice if I sent him a text message wishing him a happy birthday. So I stole his phone the Sunday before that day during choir practice and called myself so that I could get his number. I didn’t want to put the phone to my ear coz I didn’t want him to notice what I was doing which means I didn’t realize that the call didn’t go through (he had no credit tee hee hee).  So I winded up not getting his number, but then he got mine! Apparently he had noticed everything that was happening and figured that the strange number on his phone was mine. He called me up soon after that and the calls and the texts began.

We then winded up attending Bible School together. Our church had this program where we had full day classes for 3 weeks learning more about the Word of God. So we met there, and figured since we knew each other we might as well be sitting together. That meant 3 weeks of spending time together, like all that time. This is not to mention the fact that we used to go out for evangelism two by two (as it was in the times of the Bible) and he happened to be my evangelism partner! hahaha! We did actually evangelize and had several people giving their lives to Christ in that period (glory to God!) but I must confess other times those evangelism moments would just be another way of saying long romantic walks together ;) I realized we connected on a level that I never had with anyone else in my life.
